Correction factor
In all the above cases, we assume that the time of sunrise at that
particular place is 6am and the duration of the day is 12 hours. In order to
make it more accurate, certain people make the following corrections as per the
actual time of sunrise.
Case 1. Sunrise at 6.14 am
In this case, add 14 minutes to the starting times of the Rahukalam
periods. For example, on Monday, rahukalam will be from 7.44 am to 9.14 am. On
Tuesday, it will be from 3.14 pm to 4.44 pm and so on.
Case 2. Sunrise at 5.52 am.
In this case, a correction factor of 8 minutes is to be deducted from the
Rahukalam periods. For example, on Monday, the rahukalam period will be from
7.22 am to 8.52 am, on Tuesday, it will be from 2.52 pm to 4.22 pm and so on.
The professional (and the most accurate) Way
We have already seen that the timings of rahukalam changes with the change
in time of sunrise. The duration also will change according to the duration of
the day time at that particular place. The actual duration of rahukalam is one
eighth of the total day time. So, in order to find out the actual rahukalam
period, the total duration of the day time at that particular place is to be found
out. For this, you need the time of
sunrise and sunset. Many good calendars have this. You can take it from an
almanac also. Divide the total day time into eight equal parts and write down
the starting time and the ending time of each segment. Now, you can select the
actual rahukalam time as per the chart shown below.

Some astrologers are of the
opinion that rahukalam is to be considered only in case of travel and travel
related matters. For example, while selecting a suitable muhurtham for a marriage,
you can neglect rahukaalam if all other factors are favorable. But, while
finding a muhurtham for the couples to start the journey from the place of
marriage, rahukalam is to be considered.
Once again I thank you for visiting this blog and wish you all the best. May god bestow his blessings upon you.
